Along with performing Dylan has had many experiences teaching. He has been the low brass clinician at Tri-Valley High School, Fredericktown High School, and Wayne High School. He is also a member of several organizations such as the National Honorary Band Fraternity Kappa Kappa Psi, the National Association for Music Education, and the Boy Scouts of America where he earned his Eagle Scout. Goals
I have two seperate career goals, because of my two majors. When it comes to trombone performance I hope to be performing professionally in a professional ensemble. I leave this goal very open ended, because I want to perfom music professionally, but it could be in Classical, Jazz, or anything else. In five years I see myself in a graduate program getting a masters in Trombone Performance
In Music Education my overall goal is to be teaching trombone at the collegiate level, or having a private trombone studio of my own. No matter what I do in music I will always be teaching music in some way. If I was to be teaching in the public school system I would like to teach High School. My teaching goals are to establish a program where the students are not just playing music, but are growing as musicians through conscious decisions by using multiple musical elements. I also want to inspire my students with a love for music that they will take with them for the rest of their lives no matter what they end up doing with their life. I want to establish a safe and friendly learning environment where my students can comfortably learn and grow to love music. I would like to share my passion of music with the students in a fun and safe enviornment. If I was to take this route in five years I would see myself in a high school program leading a band, and about to go on and get my masters in music education.
